Some quick tips for Caramel Popcorn -

  • Cook popcorn kernels in a thick based pan or your popcorn will get the smokey flavour.



  • First cook popcorn so that they can cool down and become crunchy.




  • Be very careful while melting sugar as melted sugar is way hotter than the boiling water.


  • If you cook caramel for a long time even after foaming then it will get a burnt flavour.




  • Take caramel popcorn out of the pan and using two forks spread them on a plate very carefully so that they don't stick to each other.

Ingredients-

 

For Popcorn-

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • ½ cup Popcorn Kernels 


For Caramel-

 

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • ¼ tsp Salt 
  • ¼ tsp Baking soda

Directions to follow-


  • Heat oil in a thick based pan and cook popcorn kernels till all the popcorn kernels pop out.
  • Make sure to cover with the lid.


For making caramel-


  • In a pan melt the sugar completely on high flame.
  • Keep stirring while sugar is melting.
  • Use a knife to remove sugar crystals from the spoon.
  • Now turn the flame to medium and heat sugar till it gets a golden colour.
  • Once the sugar is melted completely, add butter and salt at low flame.
  • Cook till caramel gets foaming.
  • Add baking soda when you see foams in the centre.
  • Give it a nice stir.
  • Add cooked popcorn and mix it from the bottom.
  • As caramel is very hot, let the popcorn cool down for about 10-12 minutes.
  • Use a fork to separate the Popcorn.
