The name Hamburger was not derived from the ham meat but It is named after the German city of Hamburg.
  • In 1758 "Hamburgh sausage" were served, which suggested to serve it "roasted with toasted bread under it".
  • In 1869 or earlier a similar recipe was also popular in Hamburg by the name "Rundstück warm" which means "bread roll warm" which was eaten by many emigrants on their way to America.
  • In 1847 Hamburg steak has been served between two pieces of bread on the Hamburg America Line.
Each of these may mark the invention of the Hamburger.

Hamburger as it is known today has many claims about its origin, but the exact origin remains unclear
After world war 1 many German emigrants started selling meat in U.S. in between the bread buns. But after the war, hamburgers beacame unpopular untill White Castle ( 1st burger joint ) in 1921 started selling large number of hamburgers which are known as sliders (2.5 inches square hamburgers with 5 holes in the patty which help them not to flip the patty to fry it from other side).

Some quick tips for Veg Cheese Burger -

  • Grate the boiled potatoes as mashing them might not mash them evenly.

  • Add soaked poha in potatoes after turning the flame off as it'll help to absorb more moisture from the potatoes. You can also use cornflour or rice flour in place of poha.

  • Use seperate hands to put batter and bread crumbs to the patty as it would be a mess if you'll use same hand.

  • Do not flip the patty immediately after putting it in the oil. Let it rest for couple of minutes and flip it only when it's done from that side (observe the edges of the patty to check if it's cooked or not).

  • Donot put the patty on the tissue paper after its fried as this will make lower side of patty soggy. Instead put it in a seave plate.
