You will finish cooking it in less than half an hour and the taste will not be compromised.
Basically white sauce is made with melted butter and all purpose flour but personally I don't like the taste of all purpose flour in my pasta.
I'll tell you an alternative to make the white sauce which means it's even more healthy and tastes so good.

But first let's know more about white sauce -

White sauce also known as Béchamel sauce, is a sauce originated between France and Italy made from butter, flour and milk.
Invented in Tuscany precisely Florence, region in central Italy. Bechamel Sauce was invented by Duke Philippe De Mornay, Governor of Saumur, and Lord of the Plessis Marly in the 1600s. This sauce is a variation of the basic white sauce of Mornay. He's also known for being the creator of Sauce Porto, Sauce Lyonnaise, Sauce Chasseur , and Mornay Sauce.

Béchamel sauce is known to be one of the mother sauces of French cuisine. It is used as the base for other sauces (such as Mornay sauce, which is Béchamel with cheese). Majorly this sauce is used in Lasagna.

  • I've just used onions, green and red bell peppers and carrots to add in pasta but you can add any veggies that you like,  for example -sweet corn, broccoli, black olives, jalapeno etc.
